A ticketed walk-through light park on the Vltava riverside at Žluté lázně. The 2026/27 route follows the Royal Route from Prague Castle towards Karlštejn and tells the story of Charles IV in light sculptures: Charles Bridge, Karlštejn Castle and the crown jewels.

What it is

Story of Lights Prague is a walk-through light park: a marked route through an outdoor site, lined with illuminated sculptures and scenes lit after dark. It is not a Christmas market — there are no craft stalls and it is not on a square in the centre. You buy a ticket, you walk the route, and it takes roughly an hour at an unhurried pace.

The 2026/27 edition is built around Charles IV, the Bohemian king and Holy Roman Emperor who founded Charles University and the New Town and began Charles Bridge. The route follows the Royal Route from Prague Castle towards Karlštejn, with Charles Bridge, Karlštejn Castle and the crown jewels rendered as large light sculptures.

Practical notes

The park is outdoors and the route is unpaved in places — warm clothes and proper shoes, as for a winter walk.
It only works after dark, which in Prague in December means from about 16:00.
Buy tickets online in advance; weekend evenings in December are the busiest slots.
Pushchairs get through the route; the site is on the river bank at Žluté lázně, a short walk from the Podolí tram stop.
